Establishing Qualification Standards for Additive Manufactured Parts

Date: Wednesday, November 15th | Time: 1:00PM EDT | Duration: 45 mins

The demand for additive manufactured components is rapidly increasing. However, the lack of qualification standards are holding the AM industries and their capabilities back.

Through the Department of Energy, the Defense Logistics Agency, and the Department of Defense, Sentient is developing predictive modeling tools for components developed through the AM process.

DigitalClone computational models will help define two key areas:

  1. The necessary requirements for material parameters to be checked during inspection
  2. The impact different loading, build process and geometry factors have on the life of the AM part

The webinar will outline:

  1. The trade-offs between the manufacturing process and the performance/durability of resultant components compared to additional additive manufactured components
  2. How DigitalClone is applied to additive manufacturing components to improve material choices and understand material variability on performance
  3. How the AM built process will affect the microstructure quality
  4. How material microstructure effects the life and performance of additive manufacturing components
